Sports Chiropractic Care at
Back to Balance Chiropractic & Family Wellness

Whether you’re a weekend warrior or a full-time athlete, injuries can occur. Utilizing our sports chiropractic services can reduce the severity of your injuries and maybe even prevent them from happening!

Sports chiropractic is used by athletes in sports like:

  • Tennis
  • Golf
  • Basketball
  • Baseball
  • Hockey
  • Track
  • Football
  • And more!

Many professional sports teams have made chiropractic care a part of their health regimen. Chiropractors are trained in how structure relates to function; sports chiropractic is a natural extension. At our practice, we not only do full-spine adjustments but we also adjust extremities such as ankles, fingers, toes, elbows, shoulders and wrists.

A sports chiropractor is more than a D.C. They receive advanced training during the process leading to certification. This provides the doctor with expert level knowledge in the field of sports medicine.

Sports chiropractic can improve function and mobility and allow injured athletes to return to action faster. We focus on posture and muscle imbalances and treat overused areas, to help optimize and enhance your performance.

Dr. Spencer knows firsthand the benefit of chiropractic on athletes. He started playing sports at a young age; he played football, baseball and basketball throughout his high school years, and played golf since the age of 5. Dr. Spencer received regular chiropractic care before and after his football games to ensure he was functioning and feeling well.

In his experience, sports chiropractic helps reduce soreness, increases range of motion (ROM), and improves flexibility, focus and coordination. Muscles function much better after an adjustment.

Sports chiropractic can help athletes recover from injuries faster by freeing restricted joints, allowing their bodies to function at the highest level. Dr. Spencer is looking forward to connecting with local teams in the future.

An avid golfer, Dr. Spencer received certification from the Titleist Performance Institute (TPI), which focuses on the analysis of the golf swing through the body-swing connection. With the TPI analysis system, he can identify movement patterns and deficiencies within the golf swing and be able to tell how that can lead to injury. If injuries do occur, Dr. Spencer is able to help the golfer with any movement limitations.

Dr. Spencer is currently finishing his Master of Science in Sports Science and Rehabilitation at Logan University College of Health Sciences. Upon completion, his goal is to become certified as a CCSP® – Certified Chiropractic Sports Physician®.

One of our patients is a high school athlete who was on the track team. Last year, after he got adjusted at our practice, he said he was able to run so much faster that he ended up making it to nationals. Due to the coronavirus pandemic, however, nationals were canceled, but this young athlete recognized the incredible value of chiropractic care.
